Grant of Arms: Edward Bewley of Causa Grange 1905

Auctioneers, Laidlaw Auctioneers & Valuers, are offering for sale the 1905 Grant of Arms to Edward Bewley of Causa Grange (1830-1919) and to other descendants of his father, John Bewley (1788-1869).

Live Auction: 02 Oct 2020 09:30 BST to 04 Oct 2020 10:00 BST. Auctioneer’s estimate 40 GBP – 60 GBP

Unfortunately, the auction site does not display a picture of the Arms, just the lower portion of the Letters Patent.

Arms: Argent a chevron Sable between in chief two Cornish choughs’ heads erased proper and in base a rose Gules barbed Vert seeded Or.
Crest: An ibex’s head erased Argent attired Or and gorged with a chaplet of roses Gules
Motto: Virtutis Gloria Merces
Dated: 11th December 1905

2 Grants of Arms: 1) Sir Charles John Pain 1936, 2) Major Nigel Rutherford Rutherford-Young 1978

At the end of August the auctioneers, Amersham Auction Rooms, offered for sale two Grants of Arms.  (Link) The first was the 1936 Grant of Arms to Sir Charles John Pain of Elm Croft, Harlaxton Drive in the City of Nottingham.  The second was the 1978 Grant of Arms to Nigel Rutherford Rutherford-Young of Elmbridge Drive, Ruislip.

Matriculation of Arms: The Hon. James Bell, Lord Provost of Glasgow 1895

Auctioneers Canterbury Auction Galleries are offering for sale the 1895 Matriculation of Arms of the Honourable James Bell (1850-1929) of Marlborough Terrace, Govan, Glasgow, Lord Provost of Glasgow. He was senior partner of Bell Brothers & McLelland, shipowners and was created a baronet as “Baronet of Marlborough Terrace” in 1895.
