Auctioneers Special Auction Services of Newbury are offering for sale the Royal Licence granted to John Wilmot of Neswick, East Riding of the County Yorkshire, second surviving son of Sir Robert Wilmot Bt “by Dame Lucy his wife eldest daughter of Robert Grimston and sister of John Grimston both late of Neswick aforesaid Esquires all deceased” to use the surname of Grimston only in lieu of that of Wilmot and that he and they may bear the Arms of Grimston only.
Arms: Ermine an escallop between two mullets of six points pierced fessewise between two barrulets Sable.
Crest: Upon the trunk of a tree eradicated and sprouting proper a stag’s head couped Argent gorged with a collar gemel Sable.
