Grant of Arms: Richard Smyth 1662

Chiswick Auctions  are offering for sale the 1662 Grant of Arms to Richard Smyth, Clerk of the Cheque of His Majesties Yeomen of the Guard.  Richard was the son of William Smyth of Pounden and grandson of Richard Smyth of Middleton Stoney, Oxfordshire.

The auction is due on 12th July 2018 with an auctioneer’s estimate of £800-£1,200.

Arms: Argent a lion’s head erased Sable between three annulets Gules.
Crest: A demi Sable holding in his paws a rose Gules seeded Or slipped leaved and barbed Vert.

Dated: 16th September 1662

Garter: Sir Edward Walker (b. 1611 d.1677) [He followed Charles II into exile and was with him constantly, not only as his Garter King of Arms but as Clerk of his Privy Council and after the King’s return from exile in 1660]

Confirmation of Arms: Rev’d John Vicars Foote

Auctioneers Bishop & Miller of Stowmarket are offering for sale the Irish Confirmation of Arms to the Reverend John Vicars Foote (b.1852 d.1925) by Ulster King of Arms.  The auction starts Saturday 23rd June 2018 with an estimate of £50-£70.
